A MESSAGE FROM RUMFORD EAGLE RIDERS
Greetings Eagles,
Last year the Rumford Eagles Rider Group was formed and we had a great year. We went on a ride or more a month as a group May thru September and we raised Money for the Autism Society of Maine and helped the Breast Cancer Fund by participating in the Rumford Aerie Car and Motorcycle Show and Sock-Hop last August. Please feel welcome to go online to the Rumford Aerie web site and look up our Eagle Rider Group. We have some pictures and our News Letter. In the Grand Aerie Web site there is a lot of information about the Riders Group and feed back from clubs around the Nation giving to charities and enjoying their favorite pastime.

Who Are the Eagle Riders?
The Eagle Riders is a group of motorcyclists that are members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. They love to ride and combine this love of riding with the Eagles motto of "People Helping People" by promoting Aerie and Auxiliary functions, fundraiser's, and local, state and international charity programs.
Eagle Riders offer members another way to get involved and be more active in their aerie or auxiliary. Eagle Riders has succeeded at attracting younger members to the organization as well, proving to be the fastest growing "club within a club" in the Fraternal Order of Eagles. |

What Do We Want to Accomplish?
We, as the Eagle Riders, would like to expand and grow into a nationwide group by coming together and uniting as one group, with one patch, for the good of the Brotherhood. We would be one group, but each individual Aerie group would govern itself. They would have their own dues, by-laws, etc.
We would also like to start having a state rally, to be held at the same time as the State Convention, and a national rally held at the same time as the National Convention. We believe this would increase the numbers at each convention and therefore increase involvement by newer and younger members in the F.O.E. |

How Do I Start an Eagles Riders Group?
Find a handful of interested aerie and/or auxiliary members to get things started.
- The Aerie must amend their by-laws to allow for the formation of an Eagle Riders Group.
-
Upon amendment, contact your state coordinator to set-up a presentation meeting in your aerie.
-
Advertise the presentation meeting within the aerie and/or auxiliary and to the general public, i.e. (newsletter, bulletin, fliers, etc.) Have interested Eagle members bring non-member friends.
- Hold meetings.
- First meeting: conduct a "meet and greet", establish date and time of regular meetings, and nominate officers.
- Second meeting: elect officers, fill out applications, determine cost of, and pay dues.
- Third meeting: establish group by-laws and ride rules.
- Fourth meeting and on: conduct ride group business (picking charities, planning rides, etc.)
We recommend that everybody attend and get involved at Aerie meetings. However, only the Eagle Rider President, or a delegate appointed by the Eagle Rider President, can speak for the group at an aerie meeting or function.
